PHIL FRESH DAILY GRIND 091609

I found PhilFresh in the shadows of Detroit's 5eGallery during a movie night. Even in the shadows he caught my attention. The first thing I eyed was his necklace, which he has owned for a number of years. PhilFresh here, is wearing a Crooks & Castles fitted cap; I didn't ask but it looks like his kicks are either Vans or ProKeds; his eyewear is partially custom-made, he replaced the bows with a string, that I must say, looks chic as hell; & his sweater is from his very own line FRESHMAN CLOTHING. He tells me he's an artist & a designer from here in Detroit, MI. I look forward to seeing him & his craft in the future.

DFW DRAG

At Detroit Fashion Week 09, one of my favorite collections/models was this drag show! Unfortunately, I never received a program, & the DFW website is not as informative or organized as I wish it would be, so I'm not completely sure WHOSE collection it is, I just recalling two dudes.. Family, inform me if you know.

DETROIT FASHION WEEK

I hate to say it but, many people over the last few years overlook the likes of style in Detroit. We mustn't forget, the swank of motown artists & the influence of the harsh winters; midwest furs is where its at. There are many Detroit locals dedicated to the upheaval of Detroit fashion, whether its opening a fashion line, throwing fashion shows, or just minding to their own wardrobe. Just don't get it twisted, Detroit fashion is not dead.

'Tis the season for fashion week. New York's world renowned Fashion Week runs from September 10th to the 17th, overlapping with Detroit Fashion Week running from September 13th - 19th.

Detroit, we only get so many opportunities to visually stimulate ourselves, especially with something like the art of dressing up. Remember that great style does not require great funds. Here I'm giving you the opportunity to experience a great show with the friends & family discount for a couture show on Saturday September 19th. Take advantage! You can find tickets here:

HIATUS 09

Peace! I do this every now & then, not posting for a hot minute. But I can explain: first off, my computer got run over! Long story. Second, I'm in total transition mode, looking for a new home, new job, new school, not to mention, new computer. So you understand right?

On a fan-tas-tic note, the female weekly hiphop night my comrade Piper Carter & I got goin is on a hot track! Held every Tuesday night @ 5eGallery, 2125 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI. With our featured DJs Mel Wonder, Sticky Niki, & La Jedi; Bgirls MaMa (hardcore detroit), Teena Marie, & myself, Ri$money.
Once a month we have our in house all female hiphop band YIN. Whose members were formerly in detroit band Lola Valley.
We have an open mic with ALL people welcome. Past special guests include Invincible, Miz Korona, Niambi, Monica Blaire, Mz Jonz, Skim, T Miller, Mae Day, Buff 1, Big A, & sooooo much more! Consistant supporters include the likes of DJ Head (worked with Eminem), DJ Dez (Slum Village), DJ Sicari (5 Ela), DJ Soko, Sintex (Detroit's best graff writer), & much much more.
The live music & talent is on another level, definitely something to experience! I will post flyers & links soon when I get to a computer!
